Kenilworth Lake History

KENILWORTH LAKE & BARTON’S RUN

One of Milford’s sawmills Milford was erected at Kenilworth Lake.  Kenilworth Lake flows into Union Mill Lake via a little stream named Barton's Run. The mill operated for many years and sawdust was dumped into Barton's Run and carried down into Union Mill Lake.

In 1962, Union Mill Lake was emptied and dredged by its developer, Elmer Lucas.  During the dredging project Lucas uncovered this sawdust which had been at the bottom of the lake for 150 years.
